Climate scenarios illustrate the conditions under which a desired limitation of global warming and the related CO2 emissions can be achieved. Generally the future energy supply, new or changing technologies as well as a dynamic macroeconomic context are considered.
These scenarios, e.g. by the International Energy Agency, provide a valuable basis for the assessment of risks and opportunities for companies and sectors. However, they are not directly suitable for a financial assessment of these risks and opportunities.
The CO-Firm advances the development of such scenarios in order to provide a basis for a financial evaluation. One example of this is the study conducted together with the 2 ° Investing Initiative: The Transition Risk-o-Meter.
climateXcellence includes all relevant sets of scenarios that allow
- modelling along the current regulatory and technology development,
- modelling using a 2°C global warming path
- and along a below 2°C global warming path.
Further scenarios can be mapped.
